As part of my Office Assistant role, I was responsible for updates to the NC State Bookstores website. The website was considered out-of-date. I was tasked with suggesting and implementing structure changes and refreshing the look and language.
I inventoried the pages and discarded obsolete or redundant pages. I edited the content on all site pages, in consultation with departmental stakeholders. Design changes were incrementally incorporated. As of Fall 2015, the NC State Bookstores planned to move the website to a third-party hosted option. With this plan in progress, I was not tasked with a full redesign. Instead, I worked to streamline pages and menus while updating the look and feel of the site within the limitations of the current system (Sequoia ePOS).
I introduced new elements to the site, including accordions, updated buttons, columns, and standardized alert boxes/banners. To maintain NC State brand consistency, I also redesigned automated emails triggered by the online ordering system. I edited the emails to highlight important information and incorporated graphic elements to replace text. The example above is a draft; it doesn’t represent a live version, which would include auto-populated fields based on embedded conditional fields parsed by Sequoia ePOS.
