Many NC State campus buildings have screens for digital signs. Content is managed through an in-house system called Billboard. Billboard allows campus content creators to share materials and control what to display on which screens.
The main lobby screen in Scott Hall, home of the Prestage Department of Poultry Science (opens in a new tab), displays major announcements related to department faculty, staff and students. A faculty member wanted to advertise an upcoming workshop. Since Billboard encourages content sharing, I created an announcement for the workshop and reached out to other departments so they were aware of the slide. New slides uploaded to Billboard are also sent in a digest email to screen managers around campus.
The announcement used one of the NC State Billboard templates and the secondary color Pyroman Flame. I used the official portrait for the coordinating faculty member and saved the slide as a PNG file. I created the slide in PowerPoint and uploaded the final version to Billboard. Billboard allows for slide timing – slides automatically stop displaying if an end date is specified.
